SANTA and his reindeer will journey to Worthing for the Countdown to Christmas event, which had to be rescheduled after snow covered the town.

The event, which was meant to be held on Thursday, December 2, has been rearranged for Saturday, December 18.

Sharon Clarke from Worthing Town Centre Initiative said: “We were very disappointed that this year’s Countdown to Christmas event had to be cancelled due to extreme weather conditions.

“However, all is not lost and we are delighted to announce that we have been able to reschedule the event.”

From 1.30pm to 4.30pm, Santa, his sleigh and his reindeer will be in Montague Place.

There will also be Christmas music and a choir to help shoppers get into the festive spirit.

The grand finale of Countdown to Christmas will be a firework display from Worthing Pier, starting at 5.30pm, complete with a type of firework that has never been seen before in the UK.

The water cake firework will fire 36 projectiles either side of the pier into the sea, and will then fire blue and white stars 50ft above the water.
