Christmas rubbish collections

RECYCLING and waste collection days will change over the Christmas and New Year period.

RECYCLING and waste collection days will change over the Christmas and New Year period.

Adur and Worthing councils’ contractors will not be making collections on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day or at weekends Normal collection days will then slip on to the next day. Excess waste will be taken up to and including January 6. Food waste should be put in black sacks inside bins to deter vermin and non-food waste can be placed in bags or black sacks on the ground next to the bins.

Cards and wrapping paper can be recycled but sticky tape, plastic bows and any other non-paper decorations must be removed where possible.

Shiny wrapping paper will only be taken if it is actually paper (some shiny wrap is plastic).

Non-paper shiny wrap should go in with other general household waste.

Biscuit tins can be recycled if they are cardboard or metal. Foil baking trays can be recycled but must be clean, dry and loose.

The last green and garden waste collections before Christmas will take place today, Tuesday, December 24, and collections will resume as normal from Monday, January 13. Real Christmas trees will be collected from Monday, January 13, and should be placed out next to your wheelie bins.
