HEALTH AND CARE: Help to make sure patients are at centre of NHS

This week we wanted to share two opportunities for people to come and work with us to improve local health services and the way we engage with people, patients and our local community.

The first is for a Worthing resident to come and join our locality board for Cissbury (our Worthing locality).

The CCG is divided into six localities and each locality is made up of the GP practices within that area.

Cissbury (Worthing) is made up of the 11 member GP practices in the Worthing borough and they regularly get together to discuss local health services and commissioning decisions.

It is important that patients are at the centre of these discussions and that the board consider how improvements will benefit local people.

With this in mind, the locality board is seeking to recruit a lay member to ensure that a patient voice is represented at each meeting.

To be eligible you need to be registered as a patient at one of the GP practices in Worthing, and have a keen interest in the local NHS and how local care and support could be improved.

Closing date is Thursday, May 5.

Further to this, we have a second opportunity for a member of the public to work with us to improve how we engage with local people.

As a clinical commissioning group, we have a Public Engagement Committee which considers the engagement the organisation has planned, whether it is sufficient for the project, and whether there could be more tailored or specific work to meet with individual groups within our community.

If you are passionate about making sure that people are involved in local decision making about health services, and that the views of our local communities help to shape local help and care, then we want to hear from you.

The role is for a lay member from our Chanctonbury locality so you would need to be a registered patient at Billingshurst Surgery, The Glebe Surgery in Storrington, Henfield Medical Centre or Steyning Health Centre.
