Convicted murderer who absconded from prison found in Worthing

A CONVICTED murderer who absconded from a prison in Gloucestershire has been found by police at an address in Worthing (Wednesday, September 24).

Avon and Somerset Police had appealed for witnesses yesterday after Albert Stanley, 63, failed to return to HMP Leyhill after a period of home leave in Guildford.

He was given a life sentence for murder of Worthing 22-year-old Johanna Harriman in 1980 and was transferred to Leyhill in 2013.

He has links with Surrey and Sussex.

A police spokesman said: “Thank you to everyone who helped police with information.”
