COUNCILLORS are calling on residents to comment on plans to build more than a thousand homes in Lancing and Sompting over the next 18 years.

The Adur Local Plan sets out proposals for the building of up to 600 new homes at New Monks Farm in Lancing, and up to 480 in West Sompting between now and 2031.

The plan, still at the draft stage, will now be put before the public and councillors want as many people as possible to have a say.

Speaking at the latest Adur District Council cabinet meeting, council leader Neil Parkin said: “We want the public’s response. It’s up to councillors, if necessary, to motivate people.”
