RESIDENTS have slammed the county council for introducing “dangerous” parking spaces – only to scrub out the new bays days later because they were too close to each other.

Controlled parking zone bays were painted by West Sussex County Council in Devonport Road, East Worthing, last week (June 17), but within days the spaces were scrubbed out.

In a statement to the Herald, the council said the bays had been removed because “the original layout may have hindered the progress of large vehicles in exceptional circumstances”.

Readers contacted the Herald to point out the county council’s mistake, noting how it would be impossible to drive down the road if cars were parked in bays on both sides of the road.
