A 92-year-old Brighton and Hove Albion fan has reportedly died on his way home from the club’s 5-0 win over Fulham last night (Friday, April 15).

The supporter suffered a cardiac arrest at Falmer Station, according to the club’s Twitter account.

British Transport Police said two off-duty doctors tried to save his life, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

“We’re sorry to report a fan suffered a fatal cardiac arrest at Falmer Station after tonight’s game. Our thoughts are with his family,” the club tweeted.

Albion had asked fans via Twitter planning to catch trains in the direction of Lewes to be patient due to a ‘major medical incident’ taking place at the station.

A police spokesman said: “Two members of the male’s family were with him at the time this occurred and we pass our sincere condolences to them.”

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “BTP officers at Falmer Railway Station for the Brighton and Hove Albion versus Fulham football match played on Friday night were alerted to a male who had fallen whilst stood on the platform waiting for a train after the game had finished.

“Attempts were made to try and revive the male by two off duty doctors at the scene.

“However, sadly, the 92-year-old male was pronounced deceased a short while after.

“Two members of the male’s family were with him at the time the incident occurred and we pass our sincere condolences to them.

“The incident is being treated as non-suspicious by BTP and the file will be prepared for the coroner.”
