Appeal for driver to contact police following hit and run

POLICE officers investigating a fatal hit and run in Hassocks are still trying to trace the driver.

Earlier today, police released the name of a Worthing man in connection with the incident but they have now said it was a mistake.

The fatal collision happened on the A273, London Road, Hassocks, at around 4.40am on Saturday (October 22).

Police were called following a report of a man lying injured in the road.

When officers arrived it was discovered the 23-year-old man had died as a result of a collision.

A Ford Transit van, which is believed to have been involved in the collision, was recovered in Worthing yesterday (Sunday, October 23).
