Appeal over grievous bodily harm incident

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man sustained serious injuries in an attack in Worthing.

Officers were called to a report of a disturbance outside Victoria Court in Clifton Road at about 2.24am this morning.

A 22-year-old man from London was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, where he is being treated for knife wounds to his head and face, police say. His injuries are serious but not life threatening.

The incident is being treated as grievous bodily harm (GBH), and police are continuing to guard the scene as forensics investigations and house-to-house enquiries are carried out.

At least three suspects are being sought in connection with the attack, however their descriptions are unknown at this stage.

It is believed the victim was attacked in London Street, and walked along Tarring Road and then into Clifton Road, where he sought help.
