Attempted robbery at Hillbarn Golf Club, Worthing

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an attempted robbery in Worthing.

A man in his early 40s was threatened with a knife at the Hillbarn Barn Golf Club, in Hillbarn Lane, Worthing, on Friday (June 22).

The victim was closing up the bar when he spotted a man outside the door.

The suspect threatened him with a knife and demanded money but the employee, who was not hurt, quickly went back inside and locked the door.

The suspect disappeared. Nothing was stolen.

The suspect is described as white, in his 20s, 5ft 9in to 5ft 10in.

He was of slim to medium build, possibly with dark hair.

He was wearing a hooded top with the hood up.

He was wearing a light grey hooded top, dirty jeans or joggers and had dirty trainers on which were dark in colour.

He spoke with a southern or London accent.

Detective Constable Clare Thomas said: “Anyone who was in the area and saw anything suspicious, or has any other information about this incident, is asked to call 101 quoting serial 1748 of 24/6.

“Alternatively, you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
