Man appears at court on sexual offence charges

A Worthing man has today, Thursday, January 5, appeared on police bail at Worthing Magistrates Court, charged with 40 offences relating to indecent images of children and historical sexual offences against children.

Colin Monk, 67, of Howard Street, appeared at court following an intelligence-led investigation by the Paedophile On-Line Investigation Unit (POLIT) of Sussex Police.

Of the offences, 14 relate to making indecent images of children, and four offences relate to the possession of prohibited images.

The remaining 22 offences concern alleged indecent assaults on two girls under 14-years-old between 1981 and 1991.

Monk was remanded on court bail to appear again at the same court on Thursday, February 23.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “We will always follow up allegations of sexual offending and physical abuse, no matter how long ago they are said to have happened. Victims can talk to experienced detectives in confidence at any time.”
