A MAN has been charged with burglary and driving offences following a break-in at a house in West Chiltington on Saturday (July 23).
Thomas Hignett, 28, of Holland Way, Liverpool, has been charged with driving while disqualified, burglary and dangerous driving in relation to the incident, and aggravated vehicle taking in relation to an incident in June.
He appeared at Worthing Magistrates’ Court this morning and was remanded in custody to appear at Chichester Crown Court at a later date.
Police were called to Monkmead Lane, West Chiltington, at around 3.45pm on Saturday after a woman returned home to find a man in her house. The man left via the rear of the property and left the scene in a car. A small amount of money was reported missing from the property.
Officers pursued the vehicle to the Guildbourne Centre, Worthing, and a man was arrested.
Another man ran from the car and has not yet been traced.
The car, a blue Mini, is thought to have been stolen from an address in Sidehill Drive, Portslade, on Friday, June 24.
