POLICE are trying to discover how a Worthing man sustained a head injury that has left him fighting for his life in hospital.
The man, in his late 50s, was found lying unresponsive near a bench in Amelia Park in Richmond Road at around 7pm on Wednesday evening (June 13).
He was taken to Worthing Hospital where medical staff discovered the life-threatening injury and notified police.
Detective Sergeant Alex Lowe from West Sussex CID said: “At this stage it is not clear what has happened and we would like to speak to anyone who may have seen this man, who is believed to have been drinking with a small group of other men in the park.
“If you saw him or indeed, saw how he may have come by this injury, please call us on 101 quoting serial 123 of 14/06.”
