More than 100 people on street as fights break out in Worthing

Two people were arrested after fights broke out in a Worthing street during the early hours of Saturday morning (February 25), police have confirmed.

Police said that at around 2am on Saturday, officers were called to Ann Street, Worthing, where more than 100 people were present, as fights broke among several smaller groups.

A police spokesman said: “As fighting spilled into neighbouring streets and around the clock tower, officers supported by a police dog unit dispersed the groups and took control of the situation.

“A 21-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of affray but was later released without charge.

“An 18-year-old man from Ford, near Arundel, arrested on suspicion of assault, was later released after being cautioned.”
