Police appeal for witnesses after fatal Worthing collision

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision in Worthing on Saturday (June 18).

Thomas Howat, 27, of Orchard Road, Hove, was lying in the road when he was hit by a car.

He died but it is not known if he already had fatal injuries before the collision, which took place in Wykeham Road, Worthing, at 1.30am.

The driver of the Volkswagen Beetle involved, a 71-year-old Worthing woman, was uninjured.

Sergeant Jim Stobart said: “We need to establish why Mr Howat was lying in the road and whether he was already injured before the collision.

“Anyone who has any information or saw the incident should contact Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999 quoting Operation Hastings.”
