A plea for help over ‘suspicious vehicles’ has gone out from Sussex Police following an incident in Horsham.

Police say that a white Transit van was spotted reversing into premises in Brighton Road, Horsham.

The vehicle’s passengers started loading property into it when a member of the public challenged them over what they were doing.

Police, who say the incident happened on August 18, are now asking the public for help in reporting any suspect vehicles.

A spokesman said: “Please, if you see any such vehicle contact the police on the non-emergency number 101 with as much information as possible.

“This includes date and time, where and a good description of the vehicle including the reg no and of any people.

“Please do not put yourself in any danger but if possible take a photograph. By suppling this information, it puts a vehicle in a location at a certain time, this could help us if a crime takes place in your locality around that time.

“Remember as much of a pain it is, please keep your roadside gates closed at all times as an open gate is an invitation to enter.”
