POLICE are investigating an unprovoked attack in which a man was repeatedly punched in the head and face in Liverpool Terrace yesterday (Wednesday, February 22).
The man was assaulted while he was attempting to get something from his car. He suffered bruising to the head and face and a wound to his arm. he was taken to Worthing Hospital by ambulance for treatment and was later released.
The man was attacked by a man known to him in Liverpool Terrace at the junction with Alexander Terrace at around 5.30pm.
Detective Sergeant Simon Dunn said: “The victim of this nasty unprovoaked attack is utterly shocked. Not only did he suffer cuts and bruising to his head and face, but his assailant also inflicted a painful and potentially serious wound to the victims arm as a result.
“Thankfully the victim did not suffer more serious injuries. The area was temporarily cordoned off for a forensic examination and officers have been speaking to witnesses, completing house-to-house inquiries and viewing CCTV. I would urge anyone who was in the area and who may have witness this attack to contact the Police.”
