POLICE are investigating after the theft of almost 50 number plates in a month.
Last night (Monday, July 30), vehicle registration plates were stolen from Mill Lane, Shoreham, Kingsland Close, Shoreham, and Chartwell Road, Lancing.
The thefts follow 30 similar incidents in Crawley and 13 in Mid Sussex in July.
In all cases both the front and rear plates have been stolen, normally from cars parked outside homes overnight.
No particular make or model appears to have been targeted.
Police community support officer Kevin Brown urged residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity by calling 101.
