VIDEO: Controlled explosion of live bomb on Worthing seafront

MILITARY experts had to carry out a controlled explosion after a bomb was found on Worthing beach – and the whole thing was captured in our video.

Police were called to the bottom of Grand Avenue, Worthing, at around noon yesterday (Sunday, June 17), after a device was found in the sand.

The area was cordoned off, and a military explosive ordinance team called, who eventually identified it as a live World War II mortar bomb.

At 2.40pm, they took it to a safe area at Cissbury Ring and carried out a controlled explosion shortly afterwards.
