ANGRY residents are up in arms over plans to knock down an historic bungalow and replace it with a pair of two-storey family homes.

The property known as The Cliffe sits on Brighton Road, overlooking the beach, and was build more than 100 years ago.

Residents are worried the development will lead to a number of problems around safety, loss of light, loss of privacy and loss of heritage.

Richard Wheeler lives at Ariel Court, opposite the property.

He said: “It’s going to be 18 months of hell.

“Why they have to bring something down that has been there for years I don’t know.”
