A FERRING school finished in the top 16 in a competition for budding gardeners at schools in the south and southeast.
Ferring C of E Primary School competed against nearly 100 schools to take the Silver Gilt award in this year’s Blooming Schools contest – a prize only given to very good entries.
The school gardening contest, sponsored by Southern Water, is in its eighth year, and young gardeners had the opportunity to take experts around their grounds and show off their flowers, fruit, vegetables and wildlife areas.
Andy Shaddick, public affairs manager at Southern Water, said: “Blooming Schools has really grown over the years and a record number of schools entered this year.
“More schools are using the outdoors as an excellent classroom to learn about things such as their local environment and water conservation.”
