GCSE RESULTS: Durrington High School

PUPILS at Durrington High School were in celebratory mood after gaining record GCSE results.

Despite the gloomy weather, nothing could dampen the joy and elation of the hundreds of teenagers, staff and parents gathered.

Headteacher Sue Marooney said. “Although looking to achieve our challenging targets, we were conscious of the possibility of plateauing after 8 years of continuous and significant improvement. However, due to the sustained efforts and hard work of students, staff and parents we surpassed all expectations. 5+ GCSE A* - C 83% of students achieved this, our target was 68%. 5+ GCSE A* - C including English and Mathematics 60% of students achieved this, our target was 54%.”
