CHILDREN at a Worthing school dressed up as some of their favourite fictional characters to celebrate their book week.
The Laurels First School celebrated the week by “mixing the entire school up”, and having children from all year groups work together.
The pupils learned about the children’s laureate, Julia Donaldson, were entertained by a local storyteller, designed monster menus based on the book – Room on the Broom, as well as pretending to be the Gruffalo and being interviewed by others in the class.
Amanda Dingwall, head teacher, said: “It was wonderful. We have tried to build on it every year to make it special, and the storyteller did that with her fire and her stories.
“The week’s about getting children to love books, read more and work together.”
