Skipathon creates a '˜buzz'

The children at Lyndhurst Infant School have been involved in a Skipathon to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

The fun fundraising event coincided with European Restart a Heart Day, when the year two children were fortunate to be visited by Alex Walters, resuscitation officer and specialist paramedic. He demonstrated an element of CPR and gave them the opportunity to practise it.

Sarah Davy, deputy head teacher, said: “We are a healthy school and constantly look for ways to promote healthy, active lifestyles.

“The children have been practising skipping techniques as part of their PE lessons in the first half of the autumn term and we created a buzz across the school so that all children were enthusiastic about taking part.

“The training culminated in a Skipathon, which was designed as timed skipping and jump rope circuits.

“The children have had a fabulous time staying healthy and raising money for an important cause. We were able to keep 20 per cent of the £957.10 raised for school sports resources.”
