A WORTHING pre-school, described as a “hidden gem”, is celebrating after receiving an outstanding Ofsted report.
Welcome In Pre-School, in Crescent Road, was given top marks in all areas, following an Ofsted inspection in March, this year.
The glowing report, written by inspector Daphne Prescott, said: “Children settle extremely well within this lively, friendly and enthusiastic setting.
“They benefit from a wide range of innovative resources that significantly stimulate children’s interest and self-motivation for learning.
“Excellent team work ensures all staff have an in-depth understanding of children as individuals as they work particularly closely with parents.
“Self-evaluation is being used very effectively to identify further improvements across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
“The management and staff team are strongly focused on the continuous and ongoing development of the setting to the benefit of children and their families.”
Child care co-ordinator at Welcome In, Maria Ventura-Paul, said the school benefited from having staff with a strong educational background in early years learning.
She said: “We’re all very excited.
“We’ve been working very hard towards this.
“We all strive to provide the children an enjoyable, friendly environment where they will learn.
“But, above all else, we have lots of fun.”
In the report, which graded the school outstanding in all areas, it was only the lack of an outdoor space at the school which Ofsted felt could be developed to offer “children even further opportunities to experience a broad and balanced curriculum outdoors”.
Mrs Ventura-Paul added: “We’re a bit of a hidden gem.”
