A WOMAN bitten by the travel bug is raring to start her next adventure ‑ a 400km bike ride through Vietnam.
Elena Edwards, 39, of Carisbrooke Drive, Worthing, will cycle from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to the ancient temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia starting on Saturday, November 16, in aid of Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice.
Elena said: “I cannot wait to start my challenge, it is going to be tough, but I know I will love it nonetheless.”
Elena has so far raised £3,400 for the charity and has set a target of £5,000.
In May 2012 Elena trekked along the Inca Trail in Peru for St Barnabas House, which inspired her to take on this next challenge.
She said: “It was amazing. We raised £120,000 all together. I have got the bug now, I have always dreamed of travelling the world.”
“Training is going well so far. I will be cycling around 30 to 40 miles a day on the challenge.
People keep saying ‘I hope you’ve got padded shorts’ but that is the least of my worries, I am just hoping my knees will hold out.”
