This year’s Storrington Duck Race raised nearly £4,500 for The Friends of Storrington First School.

Julie Fourcade, on behalf of the school, said: “We were worried that it would be good weather for the ducks rather than us organisers. But the sun shone and the whole village turned out to see the races and enjoy the food, music and entertainment that our town once again put on.

“It was a fabulous day and the smiling faces said it all. We would like to thank McCarthy and Stone for their support and the incredible duck hard hats which everyone loved.”

The event, held at Riverside Walk, was sponsored for the third year running by property developer McCarthy and Stone.

Julie Ward, the company’s regional sales and marketing director, said: “It was a wonderful day. Residents of all ages enjoyed the entertainment.

“The duck race not only brings people of the village together, but it also raises funds for a worthy cause in the region.”

In addition to the duck race there was a barbecue, ice-cream and candy floss, funfair rides, face painting, a traditional coconut shy and a range of local craft and artisan stalls.
