Fault at West Worthing railway crossing
DRIVERS were held up for at least 45 minutes after railway crossing barriers broke in West Worthing today (Wednesday, January 11).
Network Rail has confirmed staff are working to mend the crossing barriers next to West Worthing railway station, at the junction of Tarring Road and South Street, after one of the barriers broke in the down position.
The fault happened at 1.30pm, with railway workers unable to get there until 2.15pm to help manually patrol the crossing.
A spokesman for Network Rail said: “we apologise for any disruption. The crossing is now being operated by engineers on site.
“There has been no impact on the railway.”
