A WOMAN who celebrated her 104th birthday last week still does not need to take any medication according to her friend.

Winifred Wood, who lives at Greystoke Manor, Ferring, only went into the care home last year, and up until that point, still lived at her home in Cowdray Drive, Goring, and took care of herself.

Her friend, Shirley Rush, from Surrey, said her animal-loving friend Winifred has lead a very active life and has travelled widely.

Shirley, 79, said: “She has a lovely disposition and a great sense of humour.”

Winifred worked for the civil service in her younger days, and got involved in a bowling club in Worthing after she met her husband. He was in the Treasury, and she was a secretary.

Shirley added: “She still does the Telegraph crossword most days. She is very intelligent, and very well read.”
