FIRE crews attended two incidents in the Worthing area last night (Thursday, April 26).
At 8.38pm, firefighters were called to the Tesco Durrington superstore in New Road following reports of a car fire.
The car had caught alight after a lady returned from doing her shopping and had tried to turn the ignition. Firefighters found the cause of the fire to have been an electrical fault in the car.
At 12.41am, firefighters were called to a property in Barnet Way, Worthing, where a fire had started in the ground-floor living room.
The occupants had been alerted to the fire thanks to a fully operational fire alarm, and one of the residents had managed to extinguish the fire and evacuate the property by the time the fire crews arrived.
The fire is thought to have started after a pair of net curtains had fallen onto an electric heater.
