BRIGHTON and Hove Albion’s Martin Perry has said flooding at the club’s new training complex in Lancing will not hamper on-site progress.
The recent wet weather left some pitches underwater, but the club insists the building work will continue as planned.
Mr Perry, executive director at the club, said: “What is encouraging is that the completed pitches and new drainage system coped with the incredibly heavy rain, with the water being harvested.
“It will be used to water the pitch later in the year. We are still to complete drainage work on all the pitches, and surface water has collected on those which are not yet finished.
“However, despite the terrible recent weather, work has not been hampered at all on site and we remain on schedule.”
The complex is being built on flood plain to the east of the village.
