Football delays CLC meeting

AN ENGLAND game in this summer’s football World Cup has prompted councillors to delay a planned meeting.

Worthing County Local Committee was due to meet on Thursday, June 19 between 7pm and 9pm but councillors discovered it clashed with the nation’s key World Cup group game against Uruguay.

Instead, the meeting will now take place on Thursday, June 10, before any of England’s games take place.

Councillors said the move was to ensure more members of the public would attend the meeting – not for the convenience of the committee’s members.

Speaking after the meeting, Worthing Borough Councillor Val Turner, wife of CLC member and Scot Bryan, joked: “It was certainly not moved for one of the councillors!”
