THE sun was beating down for a charity football marathon in aid of a young disabled boy.

The 12 hours of non-stop football event at Worthing Leisure Centre in Shaftesbury Avenue, took place on Saturday, June 4, to bolster the Help Jamie to Find His Feet fund.

The fund was set up to raise money to pay for surgery for seven-year-old Jamie Colwell, of Shelby Road, Durrington.

He has quadriplegic cerebral palsy and needs a £40,000 operation in the USA which will help him to stand and walk unaided – something which he cannot do currently.

The event was organised by family friend, Mark Czaja, who said it was a success.

He said: “The event was a success, although the hot weather put a lot of people off as we had a quarter of the expected turnout.

“But the day went well and everyone enjoyed themselves, especially Jamie, and, hopefully, we have raised a lot of money.”

The final amount raised has yet to be worked out, but Mark thinks it is in the region of £500.
