WITH the official Cancer Research Race for Life event full, nurses at a Goring hospital have come up with a plan to get even more money rolling in for the charity.
The nurses, from BMI Goring Hall Hospital, have organised a fun run in aid of Cancer Research UK, which will take place on the same day as the Worthing event – Sunday, July 10.
The team from the oncology department are organising the alternative race to allow those who missed out on the main run to do their bit for the charity.
It will begin at noon at the Bodiam Avenue-based facility.
Men, women and children are being encouraged to walk, run or jog the 5k route, next to Goring Hall Hospital.
Karen West, breast and oncology unit and outpatients manager, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Cancer Research UK with our very own charity race and fun day.
“We are hoping our wonderful women runners will encourage the men and children in their lives to join the fund-raising efforts.”
The hospital is holding a hog roast on the day, along with a variety of arts and crafts stalls, a raffle and face painting.
The fee to register to take part in the race is £14.99.
The fun day entry fee is £10 for adults, £5 for children (11 years and over).
