A DEDICATED Worthing woman will face her fears and attempt to complete a five-day trek of the Grand Canyon in October.

Sophie Taylor, 30, of Ophir Road, Worthing, has done the London Moonwalk for the last four years to raise money for a breast cancer charity.

But when she found out that she was going to be away for this year’s event, she decided to set her own challenge, despite being scared of heights and not liking camping.

She said: “My auntie died from breast cancer some years ago and some close friends have survived it.

“I haven’t met anyone I’m doing the trek with, although I have spoken with one lady on Twitter.

“It’s such an experience that we are sharing together.”

The Grand Canyon trek includes a 3,100ft descent into the canyon and will see the team camping along the way.

To help raise funds for the trip, on Saturday Sophie and her friends had a stand at Steyne Gardens as part of the children’s parade selling cakes and raised £150.
