Once Damaged, co-written by Jane Vrettos, documents the life of 35-year-old ‘Miss Terry’, a Worthing woman who suffers from cerebral palsy and bipolar disorder.

The graphic novel, which is aimed at mature readers, tackles issues of abuse but also focuses on Miss Terry’s strength in overcoming the troubles in her life.

Miss Terry said: “I was really proud of the book, like ‘wow’. It felt really special to me. I was nearly in tears at the launch.

“It’s helped me to move on by getting it out in the open and knowing there are other people out there in similar situations as myself.”
