A SHOOTING accident at a Findon gun club resulted in a man being taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police were called to the Southdown Gun Club, based at Muntham Farm off the A24, on April 14, after reports of a shooting incident.
It appeared a man who is a member of the club had severely injured his arm while clay pigeon shooting, after the cartridge had exploded in the breech of the gun, instead of being properly discharged through the barrel.
District commander for Worthing and Adur Police, Ian Pollard, said: “This was purely an unfortunate accident. There was something wrong with the cartridge which was fired which caused it to prematurely explode.
“Therefore, we will not be looking into the matter any further.”
