Work is underway to redevelop the former Connaught Corner Café in the Royal Arcade, in Marine Parade, into the latest branch of the well-known chain.

The firm has granted a franchise for the southern half of West Sussex, which will see ten outlets between Worthing and Chichester opened within the next five years.

New franchise owner Ruslan Kyshtoobaev, said: “Undoubtedly the high levels of brand recognition associated with Harry Ramsden’s, coupled with the higher quality product they offer which unlike many competitors can be traced from the sea to the plate, makes us confident of success.

“The details of the final mix of outlets will be dependent on the location and size of units available, however we anticipate creating in the region of 100 new jobs as a result of this agreement.”

The Worthing site will house up to 80 diners, serving a range of dishes, including fish and chips, burgers, salads and vegetarian options.

It will operate as a diner and takeaway.

Worthing town centre manager Sharon Clarke said the new eatery would be a positive addition to the town.
