THE regeneration of Lancing got another boost when plans to revamp one of the village’s parks was given the go ahead.

Parish councillors decided to push on with the project and accepted the designs put forward by architect’s firm Red Hen projects.

Councillors voted to support the project at the full council meeting on January 8, with seven votes for, one against and one abstention.

Cllr John Hollington was chosen as the council’s representative on the project.

He said he was happy with his appointment and that work should begin in February.

Local companies will be invited to tender for the works.

Although the project was widely supported, Cllrs Sid Hilsum and Steve Martin questioned the need for what Cllr Hilsum called a ‘vanity scheme’.

Cllr Martin warned that the completed gardens would need more maintenance than was currently required.
