A NEW campaign aiming to help people struggling with health and social care changes is coming to Worthing this Saturday (July 21).

The first Health Alert! drop-in session at Worthing’s Labour Hall, from 10am to 1pm, will bring together volunteers and counsellors who can advise people on disability benefits and other changes in community support.

Health Alert! spokeswoman Ann Saunders said: “It is becoming harder for people to access vital social services. Care support packages are being taken away in bureaucratic ‘reassessments’ – changing the rules to cut demand.

“That’s leaving older, frail and disabled people with little or no support to help them live more independent lives.

“The health and social care system is terribly complicated. We’re lucky that we have some very experienced social workers, campaigners and health workers on our side. They’ll be helping us make the system work for local people.”
