ALMOST 150 people attended a roadshow to find out more about diabetes.

The healthy lifestyle roadshow was organised by Diabetes UK and Bupa, and was held on Worthing seafront, close to the beach office on June 14 and 15.

The people who attended, which included mayor Charles James, discovered whether they are at risk of developing type-2 diabetes, which if not diagnosed early enough, or left untreated, can lead to complications like stroke, heart disease, kidney failure and blindness.

Jill Steaton, from Diabetes UK, said: “Diabetes is one of the biggest health challenges facing the UK today. It’s frightening that there are more than 14,600 people in the West Sussex that have Type 2 diabetes but have no idea they do. I am pleased that the Diabetes UK Healthy Lifestyle Roadshow was able to help people find out if they were at risk of the condition.”
