LADIES from Lancing and Sompting have been busy knitting multi-coloured teddy bears for children in Africa this month.

The nimble-fingered knitters have made more than 100 teddies which the Rev Richard Brunton from Lancing will be taking with him to Ethiopia.

“We want each brightly-coloured, handmade teddy to be a symbol of the love and hope that Jesus has for each child,” said Mr Brunton.”

The gift was warmly welcomed by Mr Brunton’s opposite number in Ethiopia, Pastor Tadele.

“Thank you so much for the teddies which you will bring for the children,” said Mr Tadele.

Every other Friday, a group of ladies meets for Coffee and Craft in the community room at Sompting Village Primary School.

Lancing ladies have met for Knit and Natter each month this year.
