PEOPLE turned out in their hundreds to enjoy the sunshine at a fund-raiser in Tarring Park.
Young and old tried their hand at a vast range of activites at the Picnic in the Park event.
The event was held to raise money to buy new benches for the park.
The day’s events included the fast-paced Street 20 cricket, circus skills, and kitesurfing, as well as zumba dancing and cheerleading from local team the Worthing Panthers.
Also featured was a “juice bike”, which encouraged participants to squeeze their own fruit smoothie using pedal power.
Event organiser and councillor for Tarring, Norah Fisher, 65, said the day was a huge success.
“The place was packed,” she said. “The activities were great because the children were exercising without realising it; they were just having fun.”
She added: “I think this shows the other side of youth, whose reputation has been tainted by recent events.
“The day had a real sense of a community coming together.”
The money raised is still being counted.
