A CHRISTMAS fair kicked off with a parade through Lancing by Father Christmas and his merry band of elves.

St Michael and All Angels’ Church, in South Street, saw hundreds of people flock to its festive fair on Saturday, December 10.

For the first time, Father Christmas, Mrs Christmas and a bunch of elves took to the streets to drum up visitors for the fair.

The event, based on 12 days of Christmas, included traditional stalls, chances to buy unique stocking fillers, and singing by Johnny Zero.

Organiser Jonathan Nulty said of the parade: “This was the first year we had done it and we did seem to have more people this year so we may well do that again next year. The fair was very jolly and the music and singing helped. Everyone was dancing along in the front and back of the stalls.”

The fair raised £900, which will go towards church maintenance.
