IT IS one of Worthing’s most iconic landmarks – and now Worthing Pier has made it onto a special edition stamp.

In celebration of the country’s piers and seaside architecture, Royal Mail has released a collection of 10 stamps.

Six of the 10 feature piers, with Worthing Pier chosen alongside structures in Brighton, Dunoon and Llandudno.

Worthing cabinet member for regeneration Bryan Turner said he was pleased the pier had been chosen, given its recent regeneration with the revamp of the Southern Pavilion.

He said: “Here in Worthing we are really proud of our 150 year old pier.

“From the Pavilion Theatre on the promenade to the newly regenerated Southern Pavilion it is well used by residents and visitors alike.

“It is an important feature of our six-mile-long beach, and is a great place to enjoy the British seaside.

“We are very pleased that Royal Mail has included our pier in this issue.”

The stamps are available to buy in all Post Office stores, online at www.royalmail.com/seasidearchitecture or by calling 03457 641641.

The collection of 10 stamps is also available in a presentation pack, priced at £10.05.

The four pier stamps are priced at £3.80.

The other buildings include Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Eastbourne Bandstand and Tinside Lido.
