Police are appealing for witnesses following the burglary in Rockingham Close between 1pm and 10.45pm on November 13.

The jewellery belonged to an elderly victim and included neck chains, bracelets and rings, most of which is more than 50 years old, in particular a nine carat charm bracelet.

This bracelet had various charms on it including a “10 shilling note”. The chain is thick linked, with nine carat stamped on each link. Other nine carat bracelets were taken, including one that was “gated”.

PC David Slade said: “This is a despicable crime on a elderly person. I am appealing for witnesses to come forward, and local jewellers along with any cash converter shops, who have been approached by people wishing to sell nine carat gold bracelets.”

Any witness or anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting serial 1641 of 13/11 or email contact.centre@sussex.pnn.police.uk
