A HARVEST market has been hailed a “great success” with more money raised and better attendance than previous years.
Scarecrows, sunflowers and a variety of stalls featured in the Lancing and Sompting Lions’ annual event, which took place on Saturday in Lancing Parish Hall.
Lions member Sue Fleck said: “We took £476 so we are really pleased.
“There was a steady flow of people throughout the day with 120 people coming through the door, which is up on previous years.
“It went very well – it was a great success.”
During the event, Lancing resident Andrew Deane was announced the winner of the adult section of the tallest sunflower competition, thanks to his plant which grew to 12ft 8in tall.
Brothers Elliott and Alex Wattam, of Elm Grove, Lancing, won the junior section with their sunflowers, which both grew to just over 8ft.
