Lancing leads the way in recycling waste

LANCING Children and Family Centre is among the first places in the country where people can recycle baby-wipe packaging.

Collection boxes have been placed at the North Road and Upper Boundstone Lane sites, and every pack recycled earns 2p for the Lancing district NSPCC.

Sue Welfare is in charge of collecting the packaging.

“These new collection points mean the local community can help us save a far greater amount of baby wipes packaging from local landfill and raise more money, which is great,” she said.

Sue also collects for the Activia Yogurt Brigade, the Ella’s Kitchen Brigade, the McVitie’s Biscuit Wrapper Brigade and the Tassimo Brigade.

“Through TerraCycle we have saved a total of 23,391 pieces of waste from landfill, raising £550.48 for the Lancing District NSPCC,” she said.

The collected material is recycled into plastic products.
