Murder case prompts anger

I read with interest the article about threats that '˜lots of angry people' might turn up at a book signing event for a new book about the Joan Woodhouse murder case.

Perhaps the anonymous man who issued the threats would like to put himself in the shoes of Joan’s family and friends. They were angry too, that the case was so badly dealt with. They also had a lifetime of grief and anguish because of the grossness of the acts committed against a blameless young woman. Martin Knight’s meticulously researched book ‘Justice for Joan’ was partly prompted by a letter my aunt, Lena Bamber, sent to the Littlehampton Gazette, on the anniversary of Joan’s murder, urging them not to forget her. I hope people will read ‘Justice for Joan’ and make their own minds up about who should be angry.
