BRIGHTON and Hove Albion FC’s new training complex in Lancing has officially opened for business.

Players, coaches and new manager Sami Hyypia arrived at the £30million ground on Monday to begin their pre-season training schedule.

Executive director Martin Perry described the building and all the facilities as ‘absolutely tremendous’.

“I think they’ve come out really well and we’re very proud with what we’ve achieved,” he said.

“It’s as good as I expected. It’s really nice when it fulfils your expectations and your dreams, but I’m really pleased with the outcome; it’s tremendous.

“What this represents is the completion of the whole infrastructure of the club.”

The club has not yet finished building the community pitch, which was delayed because the club sought planning permission to have extra floodlights installed.

Mr Perry said it was now nearing completion.

“When that’s available it will be used by the local community, local clubs, local groups and it will be a tremendous facility for the local community,” he said.
